COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

If you are not yet vaccinated, we urge you to get a vaccine now. You can schedule your COVID-19 vaccination through UPMC or visit a non-UPMC provider or UPMC Urgent Care location.

Proof of vaccination is not required upon hire; however, employees will be responsible for ensuring post-hire compliance by getting vaccinated or requesting a medical or religious exemption.

Research Specialist | Geriatric Neuropsychology Research Program (GNRP)

The Geriatric Neuropsychology Research Program (GNRP), located in the Western Psychiatric Hospital’s (WPH) Oxford Building within the Department of Psychiatry, is directed by Meryl Butters, Ph.D., along with Andrea Weinstein, Ph.D., and Swathi Gujral, Ph.D. We are looking to add new members to our team to administer neuropsychological and clinical assessments (tests of thinking and memory, questions about health history) for 15-20 funded research studies. These studies for the most part, but not exclusively, focused on important research questions about cognitive aging, mood disorders, and interventions to prevent cognitive decline. GNRP research staff are well-trained examiners who work as part of a team to administer neuropsychological and other clinical assessments for our studies to (mostly) older adult study participants in various settings, including the GNRP suite, hospitals within the UPMC system, Primary Care offices, and participants’ homes. In addition to administering and scoring tests and other clinical assessment tools, GNRP research staff organize, review, and enter data collected, and participate in meetings with investigators and study coordinators to review study goals, recruitment, and the status of all active participants. Also, the GNRP holds weekly lively roundtable presentations and discussions on important and timely topics related to both our research and clinical neuroscience topics of interest to lab members.

Our research lab seeks to be an inclusive and safe space for all staff and participants. We value diversity and are committed to rectifying longstanding inequities within research and academia. We conduct high quality research with the goal of understanding who is at risk for cognitive impairment and how to best treat mental and cognitive health.
