The Quality Manager will oversee hospital quality improvement and infection prevention related activities having 4 direct reports.
Purpose:
Responsible for managing and performing functions related to operations in the Quality department. The manager facilitates and manages new and ongoing projects it the Quality area.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates expertise in regulatory/state/federal requirements for reporting.
- Presents materials related to quality and performance improvement
- Uses measurement and analytics skills to identify areas of improvement.
- Leads change and provide oversight of project management.
- Partners with hospital leaders to implement change.
- Demonstrates strong project management skills by prioritizing and balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Leads and engages teams across the organization and interact with all levels of executives.
- Manages resources to support quality monitoring and performance improvement activities.
- Actively participates in the development and management of the department budget.
- Applies best practice knowledge to improvement efforts.
- Acts as the lead in absence of the director.
- Exhibits knowledge of the fiscal implications of quality outcomes.
- Direct supervision of staff or large scale initiatives and or projects.
- Assigns quality department support personnel for quality activities.
- Strategizes and carries forward quality and performance improvement agenda.
- Demonstrates expertise in PI/CQI and with methods such as lean, Toyota and/or Six Sigma.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field required
- Master's degree, or UPMC approved certification, or completion of 2 years in a 4 years Bachelor's to PhD/DNP program required
- Minimum of 7 years related healthcare experience required- Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers,, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, patients/families.
- Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple changing priorities and specialized equipment.
- Exemplary critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.- Demonstrates a progressive leadership track- Skilled in Microsoft office and other data applications
- Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing and lifting.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
National Certification Preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Act 34
