Description

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for conducting complex financial analytics in support of hospital operations. He or she will work closely with our key stakeholders, providing support on important business opportunities or issues for UPMC Passavant and UPMC St. Margaret. This position offers flexible hybrid work options with a team that stresses the importance of work-life balance. The person in this role will directly support hospital operations and provide transformative financial analytics in functional areas, such as Nursing, Surgical Services, Imaging, Cardiology, Labs, and more and be the go-to contact for many of our hospital executives and department leaders. There are also opportunities to work with other finance colleagues to transform financial and operational reporting for our hospitals and the division using Power BI and many other system tools; freeing up much-needed time for our team and others to provide even higher quality direct support to hospital leaders. Our team is also fully committed to the long-term mentorship and professional growth of the Senior Financial Analyst well beyond the role itself. Responsibilities:

 

  • Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
  • Perform complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported.
  • Act as a mentor for Financial Analysts or administrative staff.
  • Analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability.
  • Interpret financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
  • Plan and conduct complex studies to determine cost of business activities. Recommend budget adjustments, and other cost improvement measures.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
  • Minimum of three years of related work experience is required OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.
  • Microsoft Office spreadsheet application required, and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPA/MBA preferred.
