Description
In this role, you will conduct and document a series of complex financial analysis projects. These projects could consist of, but not limited to, creating a ROI for a particular department to evaluate if specific capital purchases are financially beneficial, work with operational partners to create physician productivity forecasts for expanding their service to new areas, or even collaborate with hospital CEO’s and executive leadership to create analytics involved with opening a new hospital.
This position offers great opportunities to grow professionally and expand network connections within the organization working on projects with various departments (ex: Anesthesiology or Emergency Medicine) and executive leadership. This is a great position for passionate candidates who are enthusiastic about using their finance leadership skills to make a difference in the world of health care. The ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal and technical skills. The Physician Services Division has taken a strong initiative to build and create reports for our customers using Power BI and Clinical Analytics tools, which would be preferred for this position.

Responsibilities:
-
Collaborate with operational partners specifically in the department of Emergency Medicine and Community Hospitalists but not limited to these departments to complete ad-hoc projects and analyze complex financial data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project future financial profitability.

Create financial analytics focused on forecasting, trending, and predictive analyses to support clinical and executive leadership.

Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.

Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending, and results analysis for process improvements.

Interpret and present financial and operational findings to various leaders within the Physician Services Division such as Chairs, Vice-Chairs, Administrators, and Executives.

Use Power BI and Qlik Clinical Analytic tools to perform financial analytics.

Act as a mentor for Financial Analysts or administrative staff.

Analyze complex financial data and extract and define relevant information; interpret data for the purpose of determining past financial performance and/or to project a financial probability.

Interpret financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.

Plan and conduct complex studies to determine cost of business activities such as new hires, capital purchases, or expanding the department’s footprint. Recommend budget adjustments, and other cost improvement measures.

Handling ad-hoc initiatives that can offer exposure to new areas within the division, new metrics and tools for reporting and analytics, and networking opportunities with new partners within the Physician Services Division as well as across UPMC.
Qualifications
? Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.? Minimum of three years of related work experience required.? OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.? Microsoft Office spreadsheet application required, and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPA/MBA preferred.
