Description

The Insurance Services Accounting team is an important link between various stakeholders across the Insurance Services Division pertaining to the Insurance Financials. The Senior Accounting Analyst will provide financial support to product finance teams, Executive Leadership, External Regulators, Insurance Auditors and more.  In addition to the typical Insurance Accountant duties, this Senior Analyst role will have responsibilities that extend between both the GAAP and Statutory Accounting teams, which is not limited to Statutory Insurance Company Reporting (Quarterly & Annual), Audit, Cash projections by working with the corporate treasury team, Risk Based Capital projections, Medical Loss projections, Account Reconciliations, Month-end Close journal entries, etc.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Prepares general ledger account reconciliations for designated accounts. Proposes correcting entries.
  • Review proposed contracts and business transactions for financial risk and proper accounting treatment.
  • Creates complex accounting analytics for internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
  • Develops analyses and reports to support system-wide finance executives.
  • Prepares and posts complex monthly journal entries.
  • Prepares detailed analyses for annual audit.
  • Prepares reconciliation of actual to budget variance analysis.
  • Develops administrative tasks, special projects and training programs as assigned.Acts as a liaison for the department in meetings with management.
  • Acts as a mentor for analysts or administrative staff.

 

Qualifications

? Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.? Minimum of three years of related work experience required.? OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.? Microsoft Office spreadsheet application required, and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.
