Our Corporate IT team is immediately hiring for a Systems Analyst-Intermediate (Technical Writing).  Under the general direction of the management team and senior staff, a the Systems Analyst – Intermediate will author, edit, and review product documentation. In this role, you’ll work with internal resources, interview software developers, and attend agile meetings to gather, write, and publish technical information for HealthPlaNET users. You’ll produce a variety of top quality user documentation such as Help Files, User Manuals, Release Notes, What’s New Guide, and Known Issues to explain technical concepts in a more understandable way to end-users.

Responsibilities:

  • Excellent command of grammar, punctuation and show great attention to detail.
  • Create content free of careless mistakes and that is clear, concise, accurate, and easy to understand. Rewrites should be at a minimum.
  • Ability to manage the work load for multiple teams and stay on track with established timelines and deadlines.
  • Ability to work with a wide variety of colleagues and have a good understanding of the product you are writing about to write accurate content.
  • Ability to work on more complex projects.
  • Have command of technical terms and vocabulary commonly used.
  • Adhere to the Style Guide and Microsoft manual of style when creating and reviewing existing content.
  • Perform peer reviews of user documentation for accuracy and adherence to established processes and style guide.
  • Look for ways to improve existing processes or establish new processes that will benefit the team and enhance user documentation.
  • Require less supervision to ensure work is staying on track and performance is meeting expectations.
  • Have a solid knowledge on the tools used to create user documentation and become a resource that associate team members can come to for guidance and answer to questions regarding these tools.

  • Take ownership of your role and responsibilities and initiate communication with Lead/Manager as appropriate.
  • Represent the documentation team during meetings and intervene as necessary for guidance and clarification.
  • SDLC (System Development Life Cycle)Have an intermediate understanding of the application development life cycle. Ability to apply those principles to day to day work
  • Review and validate functionality of application upgrades and implementations. Report back on any problems. Identify new functionality and/or hardware requirements as assigned. Ability to create test plans.
  • Create and review existing training documentation. Facilitate high-level user training sessions independently.
  • Create and contributes to project tasks and milestones. Update all project management and time tracking tools accordingly. Ability to take full ownership of a project.
  • Maintain data quality at all times.
  • Write, analyze and make modifications to reports either independently for basic requests or under the direction of more experienced team members for more complex requests.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information at all times.

 

Qualifications

  • Typically has 2+ years experience with modern technology and application support through education or practical experience.
  • Highly driven and self-motivated to meet expectations.Ability to work independently and in a team based environment
  • Demonstrates thorough understanding of information technology fundamental tools and concepts (SDLC) of one of the information technology professional disciplines and applies that understanding to make independent practical contributions to IT work within a UPMC department or function.
  • Completes on-going training on-the-job, through courses, self-study, certifications and/or advanced degrees to maintain and enhance technical and business capabilities.
  • Additionally, this position may be required to maintain a stand by status as part of a rotation within the team. This requires 24 hours per day, 7 days per week availability during the stand by period.
  • The frequency varies based upon the number of colleagues in the rotation.
