UPMC is hiring a full-time Intermediate BI Developer for the Oakland, PA location. This role is flexible with start times, and you can work remotely. Team usually works remote four days in office one day per week. This position is for an Intermediate BI Developer within the UPMC Clinical Analytics Department.  The Candidate will be responsible for creating Business Intelligence solutions for operational and clinical leaders, using the UPMC Clinical Data Warehouse, which houses information from our Electronic Heath Records, ADT system, and a number of ancillary systems as well.  

This department is responsible for managing and leveraging the Enterprise Clinical Data Warehouse and creating interactive BI solutions for the organization at large to improve clinical operational and financial outcomes.  We have been the source of information to understand the COVID population since the pandemic began.  We will consider all levels of our career ladder. The final title and salary will be determined by education, experience, and certifications. 


  • Administration & Security for production environment.
  • Design and develop a process to compile data for identification and analysis into interactive Dashboards within business tools to help the team have a comprehensive view of all lead sources, campaigns and performance.
  • Design, develop, and generate ad hoc reports and analysis by querying database using analytical tools.
  • Partner with Manager and Lead BI Developer in designing and architecture projects for analytics
  • Organize data and implement analytic data marts and business intelligence views for performance monitoring, measurement, evaluation vs. forecasts, and financial measures. Recommend and design ongoing improvements to process to improve program performance measurement.



  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Business, Computer Science, or related disciplines OR three (3) years of Relevant Work Experience (Preferred: Masters/MBA)
  • Required: One year of BI experience
  • Preferred: Certification in Qliksense/Tableau
  • Preferred: Knowledge in Tableau/Qlik Installation, Configuration, Administration, Security, Development, and Designing
  • Preferred: two plus years of SQL Server & Oracle database experience.  Proficient in building and optimizing complex SQL queries
  • Effective communication and presentation skills Demonstrated ability to structure and conduct analyses to generate insight and recommendations Experience working with marketing or IT. Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, and forge strong interpersonal relationships within the department, with other departments, and with external audiences. Excellent planning, communication, documentation, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, enthusiasm, and initiative daily. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment is necessary. Experience working with minimal direction, with a keen ability to leverage business-sense to guide decision making. Healthcare experience preferred but not required, consumer / retail / technology /Insurance experience preferred
