Description
UPMC Harrisburg is looking for an experience Research Coordinator to join their growing team. The Research Coordinator will be working with both the Emergency Department and ICU teams to assist in coordinating clinical research. Ideal candidates should have an understanding of clinical research regulations and submitting studies for review.
Purpose:
The primary functions of this position are patient recruitment/enrollment for clinical studies; maintain the documentation and files of study patients; submit necessary paperwork to appropriate study entities; provide education to patients, families, and other healthcare individuals involved in the research and/or patient's cardiovascular care; triage patient phone calls.
Responsibilities:
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- The ability to demonstrate diplomacy and credibility when interacting with physicians and staff.
- Performs work in a methodical and organized manner, helping to ensure the continuing fundamental values and needs of quality improvement.
- Phone and personal contact with physicians, staff members and research subjects.
- Uses good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strictly adheres to the HIPPAA rules and standards.
- Triage patient concerns, locate physician for patient concerns as needed.
- Maintain study documentation per FDA guidelines.
- Assists in facilitating and maintaining communication between site, sponsors, patient and family and community.
- Coordinates administrative activities related to pre-study responsibilities.
- Assists in the recruiting and enrolling patients for active clinical studies.
Qualifications
- LPN, Medical Assistant or High School diploma with 3-5 years of healthcare research experience required.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to use and understand medical terminology.
- Strong organizational, time management, and prioritizing skills.
- Computer literacy required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Clearances must be dated within 5 years
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
