The Children's Hospital Foundation is seeking a Development Coordinator, Direct Response Marketing who will be responsible for the development and execution of direct marketing communications and projects that support the objectives of UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

This position requires an enthusiastic self-starter with a passion for direct mail, online fundraising, analytics, project management, and writing. The Development Coordinator, Direct Response Marketing participates as part of a larger team tasked with acquiring, cultivating, renewing, and upgrading individuals into UPMC Children’s Hospital Foundation. This person must love a fast paced and complex environment and be comfortable working independently as well as part of a high achieving team.

This position reports to the Senior Director, Community Giving & Engagement and will be based onsite at our TechMill 41 office located in the Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the main point of contact and work directly with our direct response and planned giving strategy agencies to coordinate on-brand, on-time, and error-free production of fundraising and marketing materials.
  • Support internal and agency teams in resource gathering for patient stories, photos, and videos to utilize in direct response and planned giving marketing materials.
  • Manage approval, proofreading, and editing process with families, clinicians, and internal teams and feed back to agencies. Reviews and approves all pre-print proofs prior to production and problem-solves to ensure that deadlines are achieved.
  • Works collaboratively with data services and data analytics teams to ensure all list requests and campaign appeals and packages are uploaded into the system prior to mail and email drops, as well as post campaign reporting and analysis is performed to make sure we are hitting revenue and donor targets.
  • Develop, manage, and execute all aspects of a monthly donor program aimed at increasing the number of monthly donors by developing and executing a robust, multi-channel promotional and cultivation plan.
  • Prepare and pay all department invoices, serve as contact to resolve discrepancies, and reconcile invoices with overall department budget to ensure cost effective fundraising practices
  • Assist supervisor with special projects and prepare reports and documents as needed.
  • Coordinates and manages all assigned activities and fundraising initiatives and attends fundraising events as appropriate/required.
  • Develop proficiency in donor database, with the ability to run basic reports and queries.
  • Assists Senior Director in developing, managing, staffing and implementing fundraising activities in support of various hospital divisions, programs, and the Foundation’s overall fiscal year goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, advertising, public relations, communications, liberal arts, journalism, business or related field and 2 years of experience OR 6 years of experience in Development, communications, business, special event management, volunteer management, corporate community relations or related field.
  • Experience with development and/of fundraising in a health care, education or community non-profit setting preferred
  • Prior experience in direct response marketing or nonprofit preferred
  • Prior experience managing vendor/agency relationships preferred
  • Ability to independently manage projects and events from concept to completion.
  • An understanding of how to develop strategic goals and define metrics for program areas.
  • Experience working with volunteers and volunteer boards.
  • Ability to develop and manage an overall program budget and an events budget.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to respond quickly to changing priorities.
  • Capacity to work independently and as part of a team to fulfill goals of the department.
  • Adept at developing and providing compelling presentations to large groups - public speaking experience helpful.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal and problem-solving skills and the ability to work with many different people such as donors, volunteers, trustees, vendors and staff.
  • Ability to present a professional image of the hospital and articulate mission and values of the hospital.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and to meet deadlines.
  • Team oriented; works well within group situations.
  • Willingness to work evenings/weekends when needed.
  • Ability to work professionally in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and pacing.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
