The International Division of UPMC is seeking a culturally competent, proactive, and results-driven Human Resources Consultant to provide day-to-day support to the business, operations, and in-country HR teams.  This is a regular, full-time position that works in a flexible, hybrid work model.

In this role, the Human Resources Consultant operates at a fast pace on projects and deliverables that are not always well-defined. Using previous experience in areas of talent acquisition, workforce administration, talent management, project coordination and employee engagement, this position will support the International HR Director in driving the implementation and consistency of HR initiatives and strategies across the UPMC International footprint.

  • Under the direction of the International HR Director, drive HR and business objectives with employees and management, acting as a change agent for new processes.  Assists in the management and delivery of HR programs and services within the organization. Identify areas of opportunity and possible solutions/improvements related to policy, procedures, communications, and HR operations.
  • Understand domestic UPMC processes and initiatives and provide suggestions on how they can be adapted for global leverage, reinforcing a ‘Think Global, Act Local’ philosophy. Proactively partner with domestic COEs to identify opportunities for global leverage of domestic programs and resources.
  • Confidently assess and create plans of actions for tasks that are undefined or ambiguous in nature.
  • Under the direction of the Director, International Talent Acquisition, assist in recruitment marketing and talent acquisition efforts across Ireland, Italy, and China. This may include content creation, vendor coordination, and recruitment tracking.
  • Serve as the HR Direct subject matter expert by driving the performance management process, sharing best practices, and troubleshooting questions from the business.
  • Conduct new hire orientation for US-based hires.
  • Partner with the Global Mobility Manager and in-country HR leads to ensure seamless assignment administration.
  • Responsible for workforce system administration by processing position and pay changes, creation of new job descriptions and codes, and timely follow up on outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate employee engagement efforts and other UPMC activities across multiple countries.
  • Review or create processes, policies, and procedures across the global HR function to drive efficiency and consistency in administration.
  • In support of HR team and organizational business needs, utilize HR metrics to develop and implement initiatives that positively impact the organization and the employee experience.
  • Effectively communicate expectations with business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team collaborative atmosphere in which all functions of HR work together as one team.
  • Continuously hone skills and upgrade business acumen to stay abreast of industry trends.  Demonstrate capabilities and professional knowledge, and the ability to assimilate new knowledge into action.



  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or related field and at least one year of employee relations experience required.
    • OR High School Diploma/GED and three years of employee relations experience required.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification preferred.
