UPMC Corporate Services is hiring an Emergency Department Patient Services Representative to support patient registration at UPMC Muncy

This is a casual opportunity with a minimum of 8 hours a week with the opportunity to pick up additional hours as needed. Hours will predominantly be 11:00 pm-7:00 am shift but may be asked to cover other shifts based on department need. Must be open to various days, rotating weekends and holidays. In this role you will also be cross-trained at UPMC Williamsport.

An Emergency Department Patient Services Representative is responsible for welcoming patients upon arrival and promoting the usage of new and emerging consumer-friendly technologies. In this role, you will educate patients on their copayments and financial obligations, collect payments when applicable, as well as connect patients to financial advocacy resources when appropriate. You will also work to update patients’ demographics and insurance coverage information, collect consent signatures and promote an overall culture of service excellence. 

  
We are seeking candidates with a strong customer service background and a desire to be empowered to ensure a positive experience during a patient's visit to a UPMC Hospital
 
Responsibilities:
Your typical day will be working with patients and family members as they come into the Emergency Room. You will be one of the first UPMC team members they interact with to get checked in. As part of that process you will:
  • Obtain or update necessary demographic and insurance-related information.
  • Confirm insurance eligibility
  • Collect and record patient payments including co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles Obtain applicable signature for consent to treat and financial responsibility, along with signatures on any required forms

 

 

Qualifications

Completion of High School graduate or equivalent. 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34
