Description
UPMC Health Plan is hiring a full-time Sr Project Analyst. This role will primarily work standard daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and weekend hours as needed. The team is based out of downtown Pittsburgh's US Steel tower, however, this role can work remotely with in-person attendance for meetings as needed. Preference will be given to candidates located in Pennsylvania.
The Senior Project Analyst is responsible for complex analysis of information for product and program-based initiatives. The Senior Project Analyst is responsible for overseeing multiple projects at any given time. Must use knowledge and understanding of Medical Assistance and/or Health Plan internal processes, systems and departments to recommend and implement project plans. This position also is responsible for reporting results to Management as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Perform complex project and data analysis as needed by Management.
- Process data/report requests as needed by Manager and Directors.
- Works with other managers to achieve efficiencies across integration of projects.
- Assist Management in defining and documenting tasks and duties within department.
- Develops documentation of processes and procedures to assist in training and to facilitate consistency across the project team
- Recommend and implement process improvement initiatives within the department as well as implementing process improvement initiatives based on management decision.
- Serves as a knowledge expert to the Account Management Team relating to project management best practices and internal processes & procedures
- Conducts training and orientation as needed to support projects
- Performs cost/benefit analysis
- Assist with achieving Operations division strategic goals as well as health plan strategic goals.
- Develops and implements key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, this includes utilizing standard project documentation and methodology and project tracking and reporting procedures.
- Provide concise and timely status reporting as required
- Monitors health plan operating performance against regional and national benchmarks.
- Develops cross-functional, change management and implementation strategies, ensuring that all of the participating parties have committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures.
- Identifies trends and process improvement opportunities across departments within operations.
- Assists team members in resolving project problems, escalates issues when necessary, and facilities decision-making.
- Assures quality of information through business case and application level testing; validates test results to initial business needs
- Develops and manages specialized processes
- Manages initiative/process day-to-day administrative activities with little supervision
Qualifications
- Educational/Knowledge Requirements:
- Bachelors degree and 4 years of experience OR High School degree plus 7 years of experience OR Master's degree and 2 years of experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant Project Analyst experience
- Excellent knowledge of spreadsheet and database software.
- Must be very organized and deadline conscious.
- Senior Project Management knowledge and ability to manage multiple, complex, large-scale projects.
- Additional Qualities desired:
- Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.
- PMP, Six Sigma, and/or Lean certification preferred
- Advanced experience with PowerPoint.
- Clinical experience preferred.
- PMO experience preferred.
- Excellent computer skills required, including Access, Excel, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent computer software packages.
- Strong management, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written).
- This position requires effective planning and organizational skills.
- This person must have the ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to providing services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
