UPMC Children’s Hospital is looking for a Project Analyst in their Administration Department to help support the Executive Administrator. The Project Analyst is responsible for complex analysis of data and information sets for provider and company-wide initiatives. The Project Analyst is responsible for overseeing multiple projects at any given time. Must use knowledge and understanding of UPMC internal processes and information systems to recommend and implement with project plan. This position also is responsible for reporting results to Management as needed and has a direct connection to executive leadership.

  • Develop and maintain detailed data-tracking and reporting procedures to provide data analytics for the Department of Pediatrics core areas (Clinical, Teaching, and Research).
  • Provide concise and timely reporting as required for physician compensation, time distribution, and productivity.
  • Provide assessments of Graduate Medical Education funding and forecasting.
  • Monitor Department operating performance against regional and national benchmarks (e.g., AAAP, MGMA, Blue Ridge, ACGME, US News – Academic Pediatrics Departments).
  • Maintenance of Department of Pediatrics provider database (e.g., physician compensation history, physician FTE change history, incentive benchmarks, credentialing, academic promotions, tenure status).
  • Develop and implement key metrics to measure and report on progress of initiatives (e.g., physician wellbeing, compensation by gender, URiM recruitment stats, physician training/employment provenance).
  • Develop cross-functional, change-management and implementation strategies to ensure that all of the participating parties (Pitt, UPP, CHP, etc.) are committed to effective implementation of the processes and procedures.
  • Assist team members in resolving project problems, escalates issues when necessary, and facilities decision-making trough data analytics.
  • Identify trends and process-improvement opportunities across the Department (e.g., access metrics, QGENDA-clinical session reporting).
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis for expansion of clinical service lines and scientific program.
  • Assist with achieving Operations Division strategic goals as well as system strategic goals.
  • Collaborates with finance and hospital leadership to achieve efficiencies across Clinical, Teaching, and Research domains.



Educational/Knowledge Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree and 2 years experience required.
  • OR High School diploma and 5 years of experience required.
  • Excellent knowledge of spreadsheet and database software.
  • Must be very organized and deadline conscious.
  • Project Management knowledge and ability to manage multiple, complex, large-scale projects.
  • Minimum of four years of experience in operations.
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred. Excellent computer skills such as creating graphs and pivot tables required.  
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Access, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
  • Strong management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written).
  • This position requires effective planning and organizational skills.
  • This person must have the ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to providing services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
