Description

Purpose:
Design, code, test and install interfaces in an effort to develop basic competencies needed to provide integration services, and to hone design and analytical skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure API's. Perform communication testing. Document outcomes.
  • Responsible for continuous self-study, trainings, partnering with more senior members of team, and/or seeking out opportunities to broaden scope to stay up to date with industry and organizational trends. Seeks feedback from senior team members for development and effectively incorporates feedback into work and behaviors.
  • Test interfaces. Generate test suites of data. Establish communications with the foreign system. Run unit, integrated and volume testing with vendor, application analyst and/or users. Document outcomes.
  • Assist in testing, debugging, modifying, tuning, and documenting operating system software.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Design, Development, and Delivery processes. Follow SIS department policy and procedures for interface development.
  • Use analytical and programming skills to modify omaps/imaps as assigned.
  • Manage workload to meet project timelines.
  • Work within the team environment with an assigned mentor, the individual in this position is responsible to gain necessary expertise to support projects, teams, and ISD initiatives as assigned.
  • Document and resolve basic operation problems.
  • Participate in the development or modification of specifications as directed. Attend specification meetings.
  • Acquire working knowledge of Message Router application, HL7, and UPMC Corporate Systems.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation post one-year anniversary in this position.
  • Perform many proactive system and log monitoring functions.
  • Balance quality of work with deadlines and budget.
  • Conduct basic system/server troubleshooting.
  • Apprise project manager of status, schedule variances, and outstanding issues.
  • CommunicationResponsible for demonstrating appropriate, clear, concise, and effective written and oral communications in all interactions to build relationships and accomplish day to day work and projects.
  • Install basic software packages under supervision.
  • Interactions with OthersSuccessfully completes projects, tasks, and initiatives by embracing a team-first approach. Works in collaboration with team and offers feedback, where appropriate, to complete individual and group efforts. Shows the ability to adjust and be flexible to change by adapting approach when necessary.
  • Troubleshoot basic hardware problems for a Platform.
  • Document trouble-shoots and correct intermittent problems. Implement interface solutions as directed when systems or business processes are upgraded and/or replaced.
  • Provide service to ISD client community, patients, families and visitors, while protecting the integrity and confidentiality of all data and information through physical and electronic measures.
  • Suggest ways to better accomplish assigned tasks.

 

Qualifications

  • Typically has familiarity with the work through education or practical experience.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge base for an IT professional including word processing, email and spreadsheets.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of essential IT principles and analytical rules that guide their application in practical situations.
  • Ability to perform basic/standard IT procedures and protocols.
  • Rely on buddy system/coach to demonstrate applied skills and to guide non-routine actions.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to apply server-side technologies or similar concepts on other technologies.
  • Working knowledge of configuration files.

Preferred Experience:

  • HL7 Experience
  • EPIC or Cerner EMR experience 
  • Programming knowledge

This is a remote position with workspace available in Pittsburgh, PA if needed. 

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
HL7 Certification, EPIC Bridges or Cerner Certification Preferred.
