Are you passionate about child development? Looking to further your career? UPMC Mercy is seeking a full-time Teacher's Aide to support our Child Development Center. Candidates with previous experience working with children (volunteer work, babysitting, or a training program) is required as you'd be working in a childcare setting with infants and toddlers. Our Child Development Center is open Monday - Friday during daylight hours!
Purpose:
Assists teaching staff to provide quality childcare for the children enrolled in the Child Development Center. Assists to promote the children's social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth by assisting with play and learning activities. Strictly follows department policies and procedures to assure child safety and hygiene.
Responsibilities:
- Complete job tasks for an assigned shift as designated by teachers or assistant teachers.
- Independently earns ongoing training hours, as dictated by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.
- Assist to maintain a center-wide environment that is clean, orderly, safe, and attractive.
- Promote children's hygiene by attending to their personal needs such as toileting, diapering, and hand washing.
- Assist children with their play as directed by the teacher or assistant teacher.
- Maintain confidentiality about children and their families at all times.
- Works between centers as needed to meet staffing needs; works in other rooms or shifts as needed to keep the center in compliance with Department of Public Welfare licensing regulations.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Experience with children through volunteer work, babysitting, or training programs is required.
- Good time management and organizational skills to complete job tasks within the assigned timeframe.
- Must be able to interact in a supportive, loving, and consistent manner with children.
- Must be able to accept supervision and guidance from multiple professionals.
- Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively with a wide range of personnel. Good oral and written communication skills are required.
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and maintain composure is required.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
- National Sex Offender Registry with renewal
