UPMC is looking for a Senior Contracts Administrator to join their team. This position will be a Hybrid role which will require you to be working a few days ON-SITE and also allow for working Remote (From Home)

The Sr. Contracts Administrator is concerned with all tasks supporting the preparation of, negotiation, and completion of physician employment contracts between the various departments within UPMC. Review and analyze contractual provisions related to employment of physicians. The Sr. Contracts Administrator must be able to identify problems and problem areas and resolve issues independently. The Sr. Contracts Administrator must be able to process several projects at the same time without affecting the quality of work performed.


  • Train and orient new Contracts Administrators to the department and key processes/procedures.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced Contract Administrators.
  • Assist with maintenance of a database for employment contract administration.
  • Assess existing contracts to ascertain the effectiveness of automatic renewal and termination provisions, and ensure the departments are notified timely regarding employment contracts that will be coming up for renewal.
  • Act as liaison between UPMC legal counsel and Department Administrators to respond to questions that arise concerning contractual rights, obligations, and other contractual matters.
  • Drafts Employment Agreements and Amendments with special attention to issues involving immigration regulations and policies and enforceability of restrictive covenants
  • Provide review and analysis of offers of employment and Faculty Compensation Change Forms to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Assists in the procurement and tracking of special opinion letters and special salary caps.
  • Work with non-departmental staff in the collection of information necessary to evaluate employment contract opportunities.
  • Report on and analyze significant changes in contractual terms impacting the enterprise.
  • Assists in handling various employment contract issues in conjunction with Manager, Contract Administration, Sr. Vice President, Administrative Services and Physician Relations & Sr. Associate Counsel and Vice President of Legal and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • May assume supervisory role in absence of Manager.
  • CRM data validation: pulls reports and resolves issues, vets the reports to examine the integrity of the data, and identifies and researches any discrepancies and works to resolve these discrepancies.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and/or support the negotiation of individual incentive plans (with particular emphasis on acquisition/non-standard arrangements).
  • Develops employment agreements for new hires and/or addresses amendments to existing agreements (with particular emphasis on non-standard arrangements).
  • Assist the Manager with Physician acquisitions, non-standard employment agreement matters, and CRM data validation. Assists the Manager, working in conjunction with PSD Legal, with agreement negotiations and acts as point of contact/liaison for interested parties in acquisitions.



  • Bachelor of Science with a major in business or related field required
  • Juris Doctorate required
  • Two years' experience
  • Paralegal Certificate required
  • Working knowledge of contracting, regulations in healthcare and general legal principles related to contracts
  • Must possess analytical and problem solving skills as well as the ability to coordinate with others and communicate effectively with various management levels within the organization
  • In addition, candidate must understand health system implications of the contract process
  • Must possess a working knowledge of PC based systems (excel, Databases, etc.)
  • Ability to work in fast-paced office and meet deadlines, as directed by management
