Description

UPMC Health Plan has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Senior Manager, Performance Improvement in its Quality Improvement Department. The team is based out of downtown Pittsburgh's US Steel Tower; however, this position will work remotely with in-person attendance for meetings as required. This position will work standard daylight hours, Monday through Friday.

This position will be instrumental in leading and supporting clinical quality performance improvement initiatives. The goal of the day-to-day work is to achieve improved quality outcomes for UPMC Health Plan members. The quality initiatives include working closely with our UPMC Integrated Delivery System in addition to our Health Plan non-UPMC employed providers and staff. The individual must have strong interpersonal skills, be organized and detail-oriented, be comfortable presenting data and information and be self-directed. This position will report directly to the Program Director, Quality Improvement.


Responsibilities:

 

  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to set goals, resolve barriers, and make decisions enhancing organizational effectiveness to achieve the goals of the organization
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication with senior leadership and physician leads
  • Work in tandem with other members of the health plan in order to advance the mission of the health plan and the UPMC at large (medical management, quality, network, health promotion, pharmacy, etc.)
  • Multitask to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Plan, set, and manage project timelines ensuring all deadlines and milestones are met for the quality components of the Valued Based Programs and/or Quality Workgroup.
  • Work with quality data analytics and be comfortable interpreting and presenting detailed and accurate reports.
  • Research and recommend quality metrics specific to the quality programs being developed.
  • Perform quality data analysis review to identify educational opportunities both internally and externally for rate improvement.
  • Assist with facilitation and coordination of interventions (provider, member,  and community) to improve quality metric rates.  clinical interventions, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Possess skills in motivation, and self-direction, and demonstrate a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrate the ability to think strategically and creatively, manage multiple priorities concurrently, adjust to changing circumstances, organize time efficiently, remain attentive to details and identify resources for projects.
  • Coordinate quarterly Pediatric Collaborative CME presentations with a multi-disciplinary group of individuals.
  • Support the Hospital Partners Program by being the primary contact.
  • Responsible to provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end data to the Hospital Partners Program Quality staff.
  • Provider year-end quality metric rate reporting to internal Health Plan executive staff.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in a health-related field or extensive related experience. Master's preferred.
  • Minimum five years of experience in quality improvement, clinical improvement strategies in a managed care environment preferred.
  • Experience with HEDIS, CMS requirements for quality and the CMS stars program preferred.
  • Management experience with varying levels of staff preferred.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and summarize clinical data required.
  • Experience with report generation, trending and improvement planning.
  • Excellent presentation skills, experience in leading management-level meetings.
  • Strong project management skills required, as well as managing all tasks required to meet departmental and company business needs.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Power Point and Excel.
