Purpose:
This would be a hybrid role with some in office days with a majority working from home.
Under the direction of the Chairman of Medical Education and the Director of the Faculty Development Fellowship, the Director of Medical Informatics will have a significant role in both the Faculty Development Fellowship and the UPMC St Margaret Family Medicine Residency Program. This position will also develop Family Medicine Faculty Development Fellows to become educators who are master teachers, collaborative researchers, exemplary clinicians, and effective leaders. In addition, this position will advance the academic environment of the Fellowships and Residency Programs in Family Medicine, Pharmacy, Geriatrics, Sports Medicine, and Obstetrics.
Responsibilities:
- Help develop and deliver the curriculum for the Faculty Development Fellowship seminars focusing on the skills needed to achieve the 5 Domains of the fellowship 1) teaching & learning, 2) professional development & leadership, 3) research & scholarly activity, 4) administration & management, and 5) clinical skills. Must have particular expertise in 1) portfolio, CV, and teaching philosophy development, 2) preparing for job interviews, 3) contract negotiation, 4) conference submissions, and 5) presentation skills.
- Assist in the recruitment process for the Faculty Development Fellowship, Pharmacy Residency Program, Family Medicine Residency Program as able.
- Support scholarly activity of residents, fellows, and faculty including but not limited to research design, manuscript preparation, and conference submissions.
- Meet quarterly with each pharmacy resident to review goals, progress, and questions as able.
- Mentor and guide Faculty Development Fellows in their preparation for job placement including letters of recommendation when requested.
- Present at local, regional, national meetings. Attend the annual STFM conference in the spring with expenses to be covered by the Department of Medical Education.
- Operate as the MedHub expert for the UPMC St Margaret residency and fellowship programs including as the UPMC representative as well as creating and operationalizing evaluation forms for UPMC St Margaret community.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Master's degree required
- PhD or EdD preferred with experience educating other educators.
- Family Medicine and a concentration in business, accounting, or information systems preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise analyzing operational settings independently while establishing priorities and following through on solutions.
- Experience in a health care setting with 3-5 years experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with a proven ability to deal effectively with fellow employees are required.
