UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Director, Project Mgt-UPMC Chengdu Hospital

Description

UPMC International is searching for a Director, Project Management to lead our projects beginning with the Chengdu Wanda UPMC International Hospital activation. Become part of the team that brings life-changing medicine to Chendu China!

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Project/Program Solution Building through the implementation of PMO for UPMC China/International - Understand, analyze, and structure complex and politically sensitive business and strategic requirements so as to design achievable projects/programs that generate maximum business value; ensure that the most appropriate and efficient tools and techniques are selected and applied in accordance with project scope and time constraints; define and communicate alternative/compromise solutions that address critical concerns and impacts.
  • Leading and monitoring of Wanda's project management including: 
    • Ensuring accountability and timely completion of key milestones and deliverables to meet business objectives, design specifications and quality standards; and build follow-up mechanism/maintenance plans into project deliverables to ensure solution sustainability.
    • Establishing consistent project management and communication across all work streams through the establishment of a consistent set of project management tools.
    • Weekly facilitation and agenda preparation of project-related work meetings.
    • Maintaining project-related files and document control.
    • Monitoring of key performance indicators, including assessing the impact of UPMC's resources and interventions, and adjusting recommendations and programs based on these ongoing assessments to ensure project goals are accomplished.
    • Proactive risk identification and risk mitigation strategies for implementation.
    • Clear coordination and delegation of project management with existing workstream Project Managers. Coordination of resources in Pittsburgh and other UPMC operations to meet the contractual deliverables for China projects.
  • Developing project management training curriculum and provide relevant training to existing Project Managers and implementing required project management tools for Wanda and other projects.
  • Demonstrating and implementing PMO key practices across UPMC International including:
    • developing, deploying, and directing a best-in-class Project Life Cycle Management methodology
    • maintaining Internal Client Relations and Team Development
    • designing & developing a schedule for deliverables and milestones, change management, issue management & quality assurance
    • deploying Project communication and project controls
  • Ability to travel internationally as needed.
  • This position reports directly to UPMC China, VP of Clinical Operation and dotted line to UPMC International, Senior Director, Activation Planning and is responsible for direct oversight of Project Managers supporting or leading Wanda's projects workstreams.

 

Qualifications

Ideal candidate qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, mathematics, statistics, health care, management, or related field; Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred (extensive related experience will be considered).
  • Minimum of 10 years progressively increasing professional project management and/or PMO experience in a corporate/ professional environment.
  • Direct staff management, hiring, and staff development experience required.
  • Minimum of PMP or Six Sigma certification required with advanced project management certification strongly preferred.
  • Experience in health care insurance or health care industry preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills required, including Access, Excel, Microsoft Project, and other pertinent computer software packages.
  • Strong consulting, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written) are required.
  • This position requires excellent Project Management skills along with effective planning and organizational skills.
  • This person must have the ability to perform planning for large, technologically complex, multi-million dollar initiatives/projects, and to deliver top caliber project management services to meet client and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
