Summary:
UPMC is hiring a full-time Research Associate Sr for the ENT Lawrenceville team. Research in the Division of Pediatric Otolaryngology spans the spectrum of ear, nose, and throat disorders in children. This includes clinical research addressing everything from airway disorders in some of the most medically venerable populations, voice disorders, molecular signatures of pediatric thyroid cancer, clinical trials of medical devices to treat sleep apnea, pain management following tonsillectomy, loss of smell after COVID-19, and the head and neck microbiome. Methodology ranges from case series with chart review to clinical trials
The Research Associate will play an integral role in conducting studies that will contribute to cutting-edge treatments for pediatric ear, nose, and throat disorders. This individual will engage in the research process from start to finish, including helping to develop protocols, obtaining approvals, conducting the study according to Good Clinical Practice, and analyzing and communicating the results.
Pediatric Otolaryngology encompasses some of the most common and some of the most challenging medical conditions in children. Research projects in this area are wide-ranging and include novel techniques and technology. There are rewarding opportunities to work with committed faculty and trainees in the department, to take various levels of ownership over projects, and to move up the research career ladder.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preliminary statistical analysis of project data and provide progress reports to the Principal Investigator as needed.
- Assess eligibility and recruit research participants.
- Obtain and maintain Institutional Review Board (IRB) approvals.
- Organize and maintain clinical research data and documentation in accordance with Good Clinical Practice.
- Assist with statistical analyses.
- Responsible for independently overseeing and conducting phone screens, interviews, evaluations, assessments and/or tests with research participants.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree in psychology, neuroscience, counseling, sociology, or related research field and one (1) year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting OR Bachelor's Degree in psychology, neuroscience, counseling, sociology, or related research field and three (3) years of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting
- Familiarity with computers and common software packages required. Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred
- Prior experience in clinical or biomedical research preferred. Familiarity with statistical methods and database management preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
