Description

Job Summary:
Conduct accounting functions related to insurance accounting and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP).  In addition to accounting and reporting efforts, conduct and document complex financial analysis projects.  Provide functional advice or training to less experienced financial analysts.  This is a hybrid role, requiring two days in-office per week.


Responsibilities:

  • Record, classify, and summarize financial transactions and events in accordance with GAAP and SAP.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of external financial reporting deliverables, including quarterly/annual statutory filings, audited statutory financial statements, and other ad-hoc report requests.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly Risk Based Capital (RBC) projections and the preparation of proforma financial statements, as requested by Management.
  • Perform complex statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data reported.
  • Develop financial reports for forecasting, trending and results analysis.
  • Implement financial reporting, systems, and process improvements to ensure best practices amongst GAAP and SAP reporting requirements.
  • Interpret financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
  • Communicate and develop collaborative relationships with various stakeholders including Corporate Tax, Corporate Treasury, Actuary, Legal, Compliance, and External Auditors
  • Act as a mentor for Financial Analysts or administrative staff.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related business field required.
  • Minimum of three years of related work experience required.
  • OR High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience.
  • Microsoft Office spreadsheet application required, and PeopleSoft General Ledger proficiency preferred.
  • One to two years in GAAP or Statutory Accounting/Reporting preferred.
  • One to two years in the Health or Property & Casualty Insurance Industry preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPA/MBA preferred.
