Description
Purpose:
The Nutrition Service Coordinator develops and implements nutrition programming for UPMC Sports Medicine as well as UPMC contracts. Coordinates programming with other disciplines including Sports Performance, Athletic Training, Physical Therapy, Orthopedics, and Sports Medicine. This position will primarily be Monday-Friday, standard business hours. Weekend shifts will be required when needed.
Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
- May participate in teaching rounds for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Primary care sports medicine fellowship.
- May represent UPMC Sports Medicine when speaking at public appearances as necessary and authorized.
- Attend and complete mandatory in-service programs annually.
- Provide nutrition programs in the community and for UPMC programs.
- Research, develop and review educational materials and presentations.
- Mentor dietetic interns interested in the field of sports nutrition. Represent UPMC Center for Sports Medicine within the UPMC health care system and in local and national professional organizations concerned with sports nutrition.
- Participate in research protocols that may require a sports nutrition component.
- Develop programming to attract new clients in all sports and sports medicine programming.
- Provide nutrition counseling to referred non-athletes on any nutrition related concern.
- Provide sports nutrition counseling to patients and UPMC-contracted services. This may include: The Pittsburgh Steelers, The Pittsburgh Penguins, The Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, The University of Pittsburgh Department of Athletics, Carnegie Mellon University, Duquesne University, Robert Morris University, Chatham College, Point Park, Carlow College, LaRoche College, and the contracted high schools as well.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Dietetics/Nutrition from an accredited college or university required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Completion of dietetic internship or equivalent required.
- 4 years experience in sports nutrition preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Academy of Nutrition/Dietetics
- Act 114 PDE FBI Clearance
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
