Research Specialist | The CeFAR Lab

Description

Purpose:

The CeFAR Lab conducts multiple studies involving interventions with individuals with autism and individuals with schizophrenia. The Research Specialist will be administering and scoring neuropsychological tests, run fMRIs, and data entry and audits of data for all studies. An ideal candidate will have experience in research and/or experience working with individuals with schizophrenia. In addition, the ideal candidate would have great attention to detail. This is position provides support to two principal investigators and thus requires research-related support of multiple projects, including research on the treatment of adults with schizophrenia and adults with autism spectrum disorder. The Research Specialist will independently execute job functions for research protocol(s), collect and gather research data for research project.

Responsibilities:

  • Once trained, administer neuropsychological assessments to participants in both schizophrenia and autism studies.
  • Complete screening assessments including the WASI and WRAT.
  • Take participants to MRI and collect MRI data.  Ensure that MRI data is properly saved for data analysis.
  • Be a liaison between the lab and the BRIDGE MRI Center.
  • Perform reliability scoring of tests administered and scored by other examiners.
  • Data entry of participant parent questionnaires.
  • Data entry of neuropsychological and blind clinical data.
  • Audit and File data.
  • Work with OAC/data team when there are issues with databases.
  • Assist with writing lab procedures.
  • Ordering testing supplies and bus tickets.
  • Data cleaning as well as reviewing and resolving discrepancies.
  • Review scheduling of participants at weekly staff meetings.
  • Making testing packets.
  • Create participant folders, maintaining research records, and tracking participants throughout the study.
  • Distributing participant payments under the formal payment system.
  • Obtaining informed consent from potential research participants according to ethical principles as directed by the PI.
  • Duplicating assessment forms.
  • Attend regular supervision including weekly project meetings.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision once trained.
  • Perform other duties as related to the research project as requested by the Principle Investigators, coordinator, and/or supervisors. 
  • Must be able to juggle and prioritize tasks and keep open communication with the Principal Investigators and supervisors to ensure timely completion of all duties.
  • Performs in accordance with system-wide competencies/behaviors.
  • Available to work evenings and/or weekends.
  • Independently execute job functions for research protocol(s) including recruitment, scheduling appointments, obtaining written consent forms, collecting data by conducting phone or face to face interviews for research project(s).
  • Collaborate with senior research personnel regarding recruitment, data collection, outcomes of interviews, reports according to the needs of the study.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Psychology, Neuroscience, Sociology or related research field.
  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a research project and/or related clinical setting is required.
  • Familiarity with computers and common software packages required.
  • Working knowledge of research methodology strongly preferred.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, as well as organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with autism and/or schizophrenia preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34 with renewal
