Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

UPMC Shadyside is hiring a full-time Sr. Professional Staff Nurse to join their Ambulatory Surgery Center team! You would specifically work into the Pre/Post division. We are currently offering a flexible schedule, with either 4-10 hour shifts or 5-8 hour shifts each week! The Shadyside ASC has no call shifts, no holidays, no nights, and no weekends!!

This is a fast-paced surgery center that focused on orthopedics, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, as well as a few other services. As part of the pre-op and post-op staff, you will help prep patients for surgery, as well as recover them after surgery. You would be an integral part of the surgical experience for our patients and families.

  • Maintain a conscious balance between work and personal life through prioritization and delegation of responsibilities.


  • BSN preferred, but we are open to all education levels.
  • Minimum two years of nursing experience preferred. 
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • Trained in Meg Surg and/or ICU monitoring preferred.
  • Candidates with two years experience and 2 standard contributions OR certification and 1 standard contribution are highly preferred. Candidates with less than two years experience and/or without 2 standard contributions OR certification and 1 standard contribution may be considered; job title and salary will be based upon qualifications and career ladder requirements.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Act 34

*Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the career ladder, based on their individual experience and education.
