UPMC Western Maryland is looking for a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join their team of life-changers! As a Respiratory Therapist, you’ll provide respiratory therapy services and life support to patients. The Respiratory Therapist may operate within all patient populations. The final title and pay will be determined by education, experience, and certifications.
*Respiratory Therapist CRT Rates start at $20.56/hr.
*Respiratory Therapist, RRT Rates start at $22.46/hr.
*Sr. Respiratory Therapist, RRT Rates start at $23.08/hr.
Sign-on Bonus Details
- 12,000 with a 2-year commitment for candidates with 0-1 year of experience.
- $15,000 with a 2-year commitment for candidates with 1+ years of experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment.
- Determine most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed, and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with physician's orders
- Assist in transport of mechanically ventilated patients.
- Respond to all code situations.
- Maintains patient's chart that contains pertinent identification and therapy information.
- Set up and accurately operate respiratory devices (mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators). Observes equipment function and adjusts equipment to obtain optimum results to therapy. Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure equipment functions safely and efficiently.
- Evaluates the appropriateness of medical orders. Interprets clinical data to optimize patient clinical objectives.
- Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy (vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes). Performs pulmonary function tests to be used by physician in diagnosis of case.
Qualifications
Respiratory Therapist, CRT
- Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required OR students who have received a temporary license are permitted to begin employment with approval from the Human Resources department along with their official transcripts.
- Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRTT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required.
Respiratory Therapist, RRT
- Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
Senior Respiratory Therapist, RRT
- Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required.
- Associate's degree is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Two (2) years of total respiratory care experience with a minimum of one (1) year in critical care is required.
- Must successfully complete one (1) approved project from the department's project list during each annual performance review period. Project approved within 3 months of hire.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) OR Certified Respiratory Therapy Technician (CRTT)
- Respiratory therapists who receive their credential (CRT or RRT) from the NBRC after July 1, 2002 are required to maintain certification under the NBRC requirements
