Description
The Vice President of Business and Strategic Development (VP-BSD) reports to the President and CEO of UPMC Community Care Behavioral Health as a member of the Executive Team and is responsible for all business development matters. The primary aims for this position are threefold: 1) to seize viable opportunities to enter new ventures and markets; 2) to support existing Community Care markets to expand and achieve greater market share; and 3) to develop and shape Community Care's business strategy. The VP-BSD will serve as the strategic leader at Community Care that links business development planning and growth objectives with day-to-day operational execution.
Responsibilities:
- Identify, explore and coordinate the development of new business opportunities in support of strategic imperatives.
- Maintain overall support for new business activities.
- Recommend options for market entry considering all alternatives including build, alliance, and acquisition strategies.
- Lead strategic programmatic development that spans contracts and may include novel partnerships with and between human services systems and other healthcare providers
- Provide organizational and operational alignment from business development strategy through tactical execution measured by key performance indicators.
- Execute a systematic approach to business development by utilizing concepts in deterministic and highly targeted portfolio analysis/planning, account ownership and performance metrics.
- Develop relationships with stakeholders and community-based organizations supporting the populations served.
- Help build a positive brand impression among customers and key stakeholders.
- Position Community Care as a thought leader by identifying opportunities for innovation and engage enterprise-wide subject matter experts to leverage capabilities.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in business administration, health administration or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of managed care experience at C-suite level, preferably in multiple settings such as state, provider, health plan.
- Excellent presentation and writing skills.
- Expert business and financial acumen needed. Strategic problem-solving skills, both quantitative and qualitative; experience in researching new opportunities and implementing successful new business initiatives.
- Superior negotiation skills.
- Astute in working in a matrix environment and skilled at engaging key functional business partners.
- Experienced in mergers, acquisitions, formations, partnerships, joint ventures and all aspects of business ideation, creation, valuation, and development.
- Significant leadership experience in Pennsylvania Behavioral Health Choices strongly preferred
