Description

Purpose:
The Director, Radiology Patient Scheduling reports to the VP, Scheduling and serves all radiology teams across UPMC. The director is responsible for the planning, organization, and direction of a patient scheduling contact center, processes that support patient access, and drives digital solutions. Leads a world-class, customer-centric culture, aligning UPMC core values and focusing on sound business practices and patient-centered care to create the ideal patient experience. Works closely with all UPMC business units to maintain the highest levels of quality for patient and physician satisfaction. The Director provides leadership, direction, and administration for all aspects of the services provided and ensures compliance with the goals and objectives established by UPMC Health Services Division executive management team.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Implementation of state-of-the-art technology maximizing accuracy, efficiency, and service excellence. Participate in the design and implementation of training and development programs. Maintain a positive work environment for all assigned departments. Dedicated issue resolution in one call.
  • Specify personnel accountabilities and evaluate performance regularly, provide leadership to a staff of managers, supervisors, and line level staff (100+). Establishment and delegation of job duties for all positions within the functional areas. Lead high-performing and engaged teams. Attract and lead strong talent at leadership and staff levels. Build a culture that supports the UPMC values and encourages career development.
  • Ensure the attainment of the UPMC's strategic business objectives by identifying, recruiting, developing, directing, evaluating scheduling personnel with the functional area. Create and manage departmental budget, streamlining costs and driving automation and efficiency.
  • Informs and advises VP of current trends, issues, problems, and activities in functional areas and develops appropriate interventions to facilitate problem resolution and policymaking.
  • Measure customer satisfaction on an ongoing basis and implement programs and initiatives for improvement. Brings the voice of the customer forward to UPMC and VP, Scheduling.
  • Work collaboratively with physician practices and facilities to have streamlined and efficient templates and scheduling processes. Coordinate partnership with all UPMC departments and key physician practices, developing and fostering positive relationships that support the business goals and objectives.
  • Develop a best-in-class contact center that supports the UPMC mission of delivering life-changing medicine. Ensures optimal performance for UPMC, achieving required metrics in operational areas and driving patient satisfaction scores.
  • Works with key stakeholders to participate in the development of the strategic business plan for customer service, patient satisfaction, scheduling, and access. Evaluate the external environment and develop long-range plans that support the UPMC's philosophy, core values and business objectives.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Business or Health Care required or equivalent of 8 years industry-related experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of management experience in a call center or health care industry required.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and interpersonal.
  • Above average analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making ability.
  • Proven project management expertise required.
  • Ability to react to customer needs in a timely and efficient manner and direct staff with a minimal amount of supervision.
