COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

If you are not yet vaccinated, we urge you to get a vaccine now. You can schedule your COVID-19 vaccination through UPMC or visit a non-UPMC provider or UPMC Urgent Care location.

Proof of vaccination is not required upon hire; however, employees will be responsible for ensuring post-hire compliance by getting vaccinated or requesting a medical or religious exemption.

Description

Are you a current student nurse graduating in Fall/Winter 2022, Spring 2023 or Summer 2023 and looking to continue your nursing career at UPMC?

UPMC Magee is pleased to announce we are NOW HIRING Graduate Nurses as full-time Professional Staff Nurses.  Graduate Nurse Opportunities are highly sought-after and help recent graduates launch their nursing career at UPMC!

OB Departments

  • Antepartum (2800) - 2800 is a 28-bed high risk antepartum unit with a welcoming staff and a teamwork-focused environment. Our work includes non-stress tests, stent and cerclage placements, and wound debridement; we partner closely with the physician team to care for high-risk pregnancies, preterm labor, C-sections, and methadone conversions, as well as delivered patients with infants admitted to the NICU and fetal demise mothers. Due to the nature of the unit, our patients can experience very high highs and very low lows and need unique compassionate attention and care; staff on 2800 must be empathic and stout of heart.
  • Labor & Delivery - The Labor & Delivery Department at Magee-Womens Hospital of UPMC is an extraordinarily high-volume maternity unit dedicated to caring for patients experiencing normal/natural childbirth, as well as complicated high-risk deliveries, patients with drug addictions, and pregnancy loss. The Labor & Delivery Department houses 5 operating rooms and 10 PACU bays directly on the unit. You will work with many different OB disciplines and providers with various approaches to childbirth —including family practice physicians, OB attending physicians, and midwives. Previous postpartum or labor & delivery experience is strongly preferred, however candidates with med-surg and/or ICU experience will be considered.
  • Mother/Baby & Postpartum - 3700/3800 is a 56-bed Mother Baby unit providing service and care to mother-baby couplets who are well, but additionally treating mothers with pre-eclampsia, newborns whose mothers are diagnosed with chorioamnionitis, high risk postpartum conditions such as Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome, and surgical patients who have undergone C-section, post-partum tubal ligation, and/or hysterectomy during childbirth. This is a fast-paced unit that provides staff with the extremely rewarding opportunity to impact and educate new families as well as work through adoption and surrogate scenarios.

What can you Expect as a Professional Staff Nurse?

The Professional Staff Nurse provides highly competent patient care and treatment while demonstrating empathy and a passion for learning. A role that requires independent judgment, fluent communication, and candid partnership, the Professional Staff Nurse establishes relationships with physicians, other care providers, patients, and patients’ families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care.

As a Professional Staff Nurse and a member of the care delivery team, you will set the standards for the level and quality of nursing care and possess authority and accountability for its provision. At all times, you will exemplify a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.
