Description
Seneca Manor, located near Penn Hills in Verona, PA, is a senior living facility with residences for independent retirement living, assisted living, and skilled nursing care.
Seneca Manor is looking for a Director of Resident Care. This would be a full-time position Monday- Friday 7a.m.- 3:30 p.m. - you would also be on call.
Responsibilities:
- Periodically works floor in order to monitor nursing staff and maintain nursing skills and adequate staffing.
- Ensure availability of equipment for nursing personnel.
- Listen to resident/family concerns and assumes responsibility for follow-through.
- Direct allocation of nursing service equipment and supplies within the facility and establishes guidelines for efficient, economical utilization of supplies and equipment.
- Participate in the interviewing and selection of nursing staff.
- Recommend staffing level to be employed to the Administrator.
- Conduct staff meetings with all shifts for purposes of planning, coordinating and implementing nursing service policies and procedures.
- Plan and coordinate in-service educational programs in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Responsible for the scheduling of nursing service so that adequate coverage is provided to residents.
- Assess equipment and supply needs and makes recommendations to Administrator.
- Conduct pre-admission screenings, assessments and evaluations for incoming residents.
- Follow Resident's Rights policies at all times.
- Accountable for the development, organization and implementation of approved policies and procedures.
- Ensure that universal precautions and infection control and sanitation practices and procedures are followed.
- Consistently work cooperatively with residents, staff, physicians, families, consultant personnel and ancillary service providers.
- Assume responsibility for the development of nursing service objectives, performance standards of nursing personnel and nursing policies and procedures.
- Assume accountability for compliance with federal, state and local regulations within his/her span of control.
- Conduct orientation for new nursing personnel providing guidelines for proper procedures.
- Ensure that residents and/or appropriate family members are apprised of significant changes in residents' condition and treatment plan.
- Direct, monitor and control nursing activities related to direct patient care.
- Monitor department activities, evaluate performance, provide feedback and direction as needed in order to maintain a positive work environment.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- RN License and 2 years of experience in long term care
- Employee will be required to acquire Administrator certificate within 1 year of hire if employee does not possess certificate at time of hire
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) OR First Aid Certification
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) OR Registered Nurse (RN)
