UPMC Chautauqua is looking for a Full-Time Operating Room Aide (OR Aide) to work in the Surgical Services department to help clean and prepare the Operating Room before surgeries. Responsibilities:
- Assist with the transfer and positioning of patient pre- and post-operative.
- Provide interim room cleaning between surgical procedures including the retrieval and proper storage of special equipment
- Maintain supplies for scrub sink and substerile rooms.
- Accomplish according to procedure interim and terminal cleaning of operating rooms.
- Assist with transfer of patients to/from the surgical suite, lithotripsy site and to the recovery room upon completion of procedure.
- Establish and maintain good rapport and cooperative relationship with medical staff, co-workers, supervisors and others.
- Assist the lithotripsy registered nurse in the collection of all anticipated supplies and/or equipment and their replacement.
- Perform job functions with consideration to thoroughness, accuracy and neatness; effect on patients and others; demonstrating technical knowledge and competence.
- Report unusual circumstances and exceptions to practice.
- Demonstrate dependability, reliability and independent judgment recognizing priorities to accommodate department needs and acceptance of appropriate authority.
- Clean equipment after the procedure and returns equipment to proper storage site.
- Run errands to laboratory, X-ray and other departments.
- Practice universal blood and body fluid precautions.
- Accomplish daily and weekly cleaning of scrub sinks, substerile rooms, and other assigned areas according to procedure.
- Project a positive image of self and the Hospital when dealing with medical staff, ancillary departments, patients/families, community and others.
- Assist staff and physicians to maintain patient safety, transport and care during the lithotripsy procedure.
Qualifications
Vocational/technical training preferred. Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
