Description
To develop and implement an individualized exercise prescription for clients involved with cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation. Work with to screen/assess clients whom participate in other programs within the wellness center, such as the surgical and non-surgical weight loss programs
Responsibilities:
- Refer patients to ancillary services as needed.
- Assist with community initiatives as required.
- Counsel patients regarding cardiac risk factor modification.
- Assist with the implantation of Employee and Community Wellness Programming.
- Coordinate an individualized treatment plan in collaboration with the Staff Nurse, Dietitian and Behaviorist.
- Supervise exercise sessions.
- Respond to emergency situations utilizing ACLS protocol.
- Maintain documentation of patient status and services provided according to departmental procedure.
- Evaluate and update the patient's treatment plan according to individual needs and physiological responses.
- Maintain departmental standards of care and participate in continuous quality improvement.
- Develop and implement exercise prescriptions under the supervision of the Medical Director.
- Screen/assess other patient populations regarding exercise habits and development of exercise programs (i.e.: surgical and non-surgical weight loss clients).
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Exercise Science / Physiology or related field.
Preferred Education/Knowledge Requirements:
- Master in Exercise Science/Physiology or a related field.
- Preferred 1 year of clinical experience.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office or equivalent.)
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ACSM certification(s) preferred.CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
