Our UPMC Corporate Human Resources Department is hiring a Lead Human Resources Consultant.  This is a regular, full-time position that primarily works daylight hours, Monday through Friday.  A perk of this position includes flexible work arrangements!

In this role, the Lead Human Resources Consultant provides leadership for and manages the day-to-day work of the employee relations team. They oversee a team of human resources professionals who provide employee relations support for Supply Chain & Information Technology departments at UPMC.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the daily workflow and activities for a team of employee relations professionals.
  • Independently able to work with all shared services to meet the needs of the customer
  • Develop and mentor employee relations staff
  • Independently able to advise all customers on employee relations matters such as reduction in force, disciplinary investigations, grievances, performance improvement plans
  • Collaborate with HR team to design and plan interventions that that facilitate organizational changes.
  • Continuously improve skills and knowledge and upgrade business acumen, to stay abreast of industry trends.
  • Lead business unit and system-wide projects and initiatives, lead committees
  • Prepares and analyzes reports and metrics to provide sound recommendations
  • Collaborate with HR business and operational leaders to identify education gaps and development opportunities for management and employees. Partners with management to provide consultation on coaching and mentorship for staff.
  • Partner with leaders to provide and implement HR initiatives that support management and employees across the organization.
  • Effectively communicate expectations with the business, operational, and HR partners while promoting a One Team collaborative atmosphere in which all functions of HR work together as one team.
  • Participate on local and/or organization wide committees that focus on projects that move the organization towards meeting its strategic goals.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in human resources, business or related field is required and at least four years of employee relations experience required.
    • OR High School Diploma/GED and six years of employee relations experience required.
  • PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification required within the first year of hire for external candidates.
    • Internal applicants within UPMC HR are required to have the certification requirements in place to be considered for promotional opportunities.
  • Prior progressive leadership experience preferred. 


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • PHR, SPHR certification, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP certification or UPMC HCI Strategic HR Business Partner Certification required within the first year of hire for external candidates. Internal applicants within UPMC HR are required to have the certification requirements in place to be considered for promotional opportunities.
