UPMC is hiring a part time scribe to work Monday - Friday daylight shifts Oakland.
This unique role is a great opportunity for individuals seeking clinical experience and exposure prior to medical, nursing, or scientific programs.
The scribe/ophthalmic writer position will be dedicated to ensuring complete and accurate medical records for outpatient eye examinations with a strong focus on meaningful use of electronic medical record systems.
Responsibilities:
- In-room live scribing of ophthalmic examinations including clinical impressions and follow-up plans.
- Preparing and providing depart summaries to patients and families to conclude the visit.
- Indirect assistance during ophthalmic examinations by having the materials and tools available for the physician to complete the examination.
- Assistance with other clinical support tasks including preparing patient charts, sending scheduling messages, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications - External
- High school diploma. Fluency in English, bilingual preferred.
- Two years' experience in a medical office.
- Knowledge of general medical terms and touch-typing skills preferred
- Excellent spelling ability. Experience maintaining patient confidentiality.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) OR Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Act 34
