UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description


Coordinates pre-camp, intra-camp and post-camp activities of the Dr. Bill Neches Heart Camp. Coordinates programs, supervises camp staff and volunteers, provides reports, and maintains budget for the program. Trains, orients and functions as a resource for camp staff. Evaluates program activities and makes recommendations for changes. Stay on site during the week of camp 24/7 to provide oversight to camp.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide summary of events to camp leadership team and volunteers.
  • Resolve any issues or events that may have occurred during heart camp until resolution is achieved.
  • Coordinate and manage the camp counselor program. Implement staffing plan and coordinate for staff compensation. Train and orient camp staff.
  • Attend camp and coordinate daily activities including but not limited to: ask the doctor, transplant meeting, parent lecture, Guest events, arts/crafts, Secure volunteers for the pond, canoe and events, coordinate camp DJ and sponsor, coordinate camp fire activities.
  • Plan camp activity schedule, arrange transportation, run the camp planning meetings, and support planning and fund raising events.
  • Identify improvement opportunities for next camp.
  • Prepare and submit invoices for processing according to hospital guidelines.
  • Prepare camp brochure and camper guides, provide web site updates, and coordinate camp application process.

 

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required and Associate?s Degree Preferred.
  • 1-2 years of previous experience teaching children in a classroom, staffing a children's camp preferably a medical heart camp, or other recreational setting.
  • Prior leadership experience organizing for large and small groups of children.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and leadership skills.


Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
