UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

This position will work variable 8 hour shifts (5am-7pm) and every other weekend.

Purpose:

To assist patients with the menu process. To guide patient food choices in compliance with the physician's diet order. To screen patients for nutrition needs. To deliver excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports a positive working relationship with other and actively supports and participates in performance improvement activities. Demonstrates Hamot's commitment to Service Excellence by understanding the needs of patients, their families, physicians and co-workers and doing what is required the first time, every time by being responsible, sensitive, accurate, timely, coordinated and thorough.
  • Possesses the ability to obtain and interpret information considering age specific needs.Assures accurate implementation of the diet prescription. Demonstrates exceptional customer service behaviors through all interactions. Completes all clerical activities and processes orders appropriately. Completes assigned patient activities. Participates in meal tray and nourishment delivery.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in diet therapy or a related field preferred; or High school graduate or equivalent with two years of technical experience in a hospital setting or a related area preferred
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • This position typically reports to the Clinical Manager.
