UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

Description

UPMC is hiring a casual Patient Access Representative to work patient registration at the front desk and bedside in our Emergency Departments at our UPMC hospitals. Whether you are looking to start your career in healthcare or are looking to expand your skill set, this is the opportunity for you!
 
In this entry-level role, you will travel to any UPMC Emergency Department throughout Allegheny County and Cranberry registering patients as they come into the Emergency Department. In a casual position, you must be able to provide 16 hours of availability every two weeks and work one weekend per month. The employee would be required to work a minimum of 8 hours a pay period.

Responsibilities:
Your typical day will be working with patients and family members as they come into the Emergency Room. You will be one of the first UPMC team members they check in with. As part of that process you will:
  • Obtain or update necessary demographic and insurance-related information.
  • Confirm insurance eligibility
  • Collect and record patient payments including co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles
  • Obtain applicable signature for consent to treat and financial responsibility, along with signatures on any required forms

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.

Clearances/Licensure: (to be acquired after offer acceptance and before start date - we will provide instructions on how to obtain)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
