Description
Purpose:
Assists in conducting therapeutic activity programming. Documents participation in therapeutic programs. Assists Activity Director in all aspects of volunteer services, gift shop operations and activity programming.
Responsibilities:
- Promote outreach projects, assist in purchasing supplies.
- Assist in creating weekly activity schedule.
- Assist in resident voting registration and absentee ballots efforts.
- Assist in annual volunteer orientation and recognition events.
- Assist in developing activities that enhance the quality of life for each resident based on need, level of functioning and individual preference.
- Participate in planning and attending community outings.
- Assist Activity Director in purchasing efforts.
- Assist in completing Activity Section on MDS.
- Facilitate and escort Residents to daily programs.
- Participate in volunteer recruitment and retention efforts.
- Assist in working in conjunction with the Restorative Department to implement daily fitness program Fit-n-Fun supplying appropriate music, and social/emotional support.
- Observe and adhere to all facility policies and procedures.
- Attend intermediate care conferences to discuss and implement resident plan of care as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the absence of the Activity Director.
- Assist with resident Christmas gift project.
- Assist in training and supervising all facility volunteers.
- Document resident attendance at scheduled programs.
- Develop positive relations with community groups including, but not limited to the VFW, local church groups, civic organizations, scout groups, and local corporations.
- Work in conjunction with volunteers in stocking of shop and pricing.
- Provide inventory of items needed to service resident population.
- Attends all appropriate facility in-services and committee meetings.
- Observe and respect all resident rights.
- Assist in maintaining financial records of purchasing and sales.
- Build positive relations with all departments to enhance teamwork and promote an environment of success.
- Attend and assist with monthly Resident Council meetings and documentation.
- Provide support in interviewing volunteer candidates for appropriate positions.
- Provide computer and clerical support to Activity Department and Pastoral Care.
- Adhere to all state and federal guidelines.
- Promote positive visitor and family relations.
- Assist in developing volunteer policies and procedures with Activity Director and Pastoral Care.
- Assist in scheduling needed TB test and criminal background checks for all new volunteers.
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent preferred. 2 years experience working in a health care setting preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated while performing job duties.
