University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Emergency Services, Center for Community Hospitalist Medicine (CCHM) is hiring a full-time, Clinical Project Director, Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (ACNP). This role will serve as the lead APP for CCHM providing administrative support and clinical guidance to the Advanced Practice Providers within the business unit. This position will serve as a contact/liaison with internal and external partners, and will collaborate with administration on the strategic direction for APP involvement in CCHM programs. The primary role is inpatient rounding. The Clinical Project Director is required to travel/float to all CCHM locations as needed to develop an understanding of each program. Additionally, this position requires occasional travel to Forbes Tower for administrative meetings. Compensation and clinical responsibilities will be adjusted accordingly.
For this leadership opportunity in CCNP, we are looking for the following:
- Master’s Degree in business, nursing, healthcare management or a related field.
- 3 years progressive experience in a corporate/professional environment required. Preferably in hospital or internal medicine. 5 years’ experience preferred.
- Strong process management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written).
- Demonstrated initiatives and ability to work independently. Ability to manage multiple priority standard lines concurrently.
- The ability to perform planning for large initiatives/projects, managing all tasks required to meet departmental and business needs within budget and targeted deadlines.
- Able to function in a complex environment. Must be flexible.
- Must have strong computer skills including use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.

Purpose:
The Clinical Project Director will serve as the special projects and activities supervisor for UPMC Office of Advanced Practice Providers. The position will provide administrative oversight, clinical guidance and support to the CCHM program. She/he will serve as a contact and liaison with internal and external partners. Collaborate with partners and development of strategic direction of the overall program.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Administrative and Medical Leadership in the development of the project strategy. Develop methods to assist in tracking the status of projects.
- Follow up with appropriate staff to ensure progress continues. Identify barriers and work with department management staff to resolve issues.
- Coordinate the planning, design, and implementation phases of CCHM activities. Coordination of all related CME activity.
- Monitor timely completion of tasks, remind responsible party of deliverables, collaborate with others to resolve issues, and keep project on task. Identify linkages among departments, other facilities, and external groups to maximize opportunities to be creative and efficient, which will help the department in reaching established goals.
- Observe department functions, document processes and provide recommendations to medical leadership for improvement. Collaborate with department staff and staff from other departments/facilities to evaluate work flows and develop written accountabilities, roles, responsibilities, work flows and related tools.
- Assist in the development of quality audit tools, measures, and reports to ensure work products and productivity meet established standards and meet compliance. Assist in the development and implementation of training programs, tools, and other documents to ensure all applicable parties are well informed and have received effective training on the project goals, individual roles and responsibilities, work flows and other related activities.
- Assist in the assessment of project success and help to develop revised processes or policies in a timely manner. Keep all team members, key departments, and management informed of project status.
Qualifications
Master's degree in business, nursing, healthcare management or related field is required. CRNP or PA required. 3 progressively increasing operational experience in a corporate/professional environment required, preferably in hospital or internal medicine. 5 years preferred. Strong process management, problem solving, organizational, and communication skills (oral and written). Demonstrated initiatives and ability to work independently. Licensure, Education, Certifications, and Clearances
CRNP:
- The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required
- Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred
- Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required
- National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing
- Current CPR certification is required
- Act 34 Clearance required
PA:
- A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required
- Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred
- Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required
- Current CPR certification is required
- Act 34 Clearance required
