COVID-19 Vaccination Information

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

UPMC is looking to hire a full-time Patient Access Data Monitor. In this role, you will maintain data accuracy in all patient record-related systems for UPMC. The employee would coordinate and support ADT resolution of accounts for all phases of the revenue cycle while working under the general supervision of Revenue Cycle, Central Admissions Center/Patient Arrival department leadership. Additionally, in the role, you would troubleshoot and provide assistance for all levels of responsibility within UPMC as requested.
In this role, you will work Thursday through Monday. The weekday shifts will be from 3:00 pm -11:30 pm and the weekend shifts will be 7:00 am-3:30 pm. The Patient Access Data Monitor role is non-patient facing and team members function in a call center setting (primarily telephone/computer).

Responsibilities:
  • Answer multi-line telephone system and register Direct Admissions, Transfers, and Discharges according to department protocols.
  • Timely analysis, correction, and root cause identification of errors to ensure a clean billing cycle.
  • Review and take action to update the patient account to the appropriate bed status.
  • Act as a resource for staff to assist in providing financial education to patients and family on insurance matters, outside resources, financial liability, and hospital-billing process to ensure that patient's financial commitment to the institution is arranged prior to arrival for services.
  • Assist in the registration process during periods of high patient volume and/or staffing shortages.
  • Confirm insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier via on-line verification systems for third party reimbursement and coordination of benefits.
  • Investigate and take action on accounts as requested to determine potential compliance issues.

 

Qualifications

  • Completion of High school education required.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science; or health care related preferred.
  • Minimum of three years in the Revenue Cycle, Patient Access or computer environment position required OR Equivalent combination of Experience or Education.
