Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

CTT Program Coordinator | Western Psychiatric Hospital

Description

Purpose:
Assisting the Clinical Administrator in the competent management of the provision of consumer and clinical services to consumers with serious and persistent mental illness for whom traditional outpatient Mental Health Services have not been effective.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision of clinical staff regarding performance of duties.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Provide, on a weekly basis, case reviews with insurance company to maintain behavioral health insurance coverage for consumers in the CTT Program
  • Maintain a professional CTT team by interviewing candidates, providing progressive correction action to current team members and as needed, termination of team members.
  • Work with motivational interviewing and assist staff to integrate techniques into phone screening.
  • Submit documentation that is professional in content and appearance by established deadlines.
  • Manage crisis situations effectively using positive approaches; assist in maintaining safe environment.
  • Interact with community agencies and other mental health providers in a collaborative effort to provide comprehensive mental health service to CTT consumers.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary activities such as staff meetings and other committees.
  • Maintain accuracy and completeness of patient records in compliance with institutional standards.
  • Facilitate the daily team meetings in a collaborative manner and in accordance with the ACT standards.
  • Provide knowledge of mental health laws; obtain appropriate consents or commitment authorizations as needed.
  • Provide information to Clinical Administrator on issues of budget as well as daily maintaining adherence to the established budget.
  • Participate in outreach visits to consumers in various housing/living situations.
  • Provide consultation and direct assistance to the DEC or community ER staff in the case of at risk consumers presenting for treatment.
  • Provide DSMIV and provisional diagnosis
  • Meet standards for documentation and complete all required paperwork.
  • Participate calmly and effectively, using good clinical judgment to both psychiatric and medical emergencies.
  • Demonstrate effective use of patient acuity determination through review of clinical case discussion.
  • Provide person centered philosophy and models this philosophy to staff
  • Provide support for clinical and non-clinical needs or problems affecting clinical services and take necessary action to resolve them.
  • Provide quality care to consumers following the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Model of mental health care delivery.
  • Provide insight & knowledge of insurance programs, process and obtain authorizations as needed.
  • Participate in and/or complete initial and comprehensive assessment of identified clients. This includes social history, psychiatric history, and mental status exams.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensure learning, continuing education, and implementation of ACT standards of care
  • Collaborate with team members to provide needed services to coordinate with other community agencies.
  • Assist consumer to set goals and plan to meet those goals based on consumer's strengths, needs, interests and cultural preferences.
  • Facilitate or co-lead small groups of consumers or significant others to increase understanding of consumer issues and to improve coping skills and performance of activities of daily living.
  • Provide daily oversight to the CTT Program to assure that services are delivered in a quality and efficient fashion that yields fidelity to the ACT model.
  • Review and approve times sheets and ensure that payment for hours worked is administered in accordance with WPIC guidelines and contractual agreements.
  • Attend leadership meetings monthly with leadership team.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Administrator in planning and instructing orientation and training.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work required.

Other human service fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in Psychology, Social Work or Counseling.

  • 5 years mental health experience, including 3 years of supervisory experience required.
  • 3 years of clinical supervision and management in a mental health setting required.
  • Experience in phone triage, as well as an in-depth knowledge and proven skill at performing psychiatric assessments.
  • Experience in mental health crisis intervention preferred.
  • Excellent, recovery-oriented interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends, holidays, and to assume on call responsibilities.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Driver's License
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
