Description
Under the general direction of the Director, Dental & Vision Operations, the Manager Dental Administration assumes responsibility for managing and directing all activities related to the administration of Dental products including systems configuration and implementation, project management, product oversight, and training. This position is responsible for providing leadership and direction to various levels of staff to meet or exceed UPMC Health Plan business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for implementation, oversight, and day to day operations of UPMC Health Plan's Dental products.
- Develop strategic and tactical business plans for business units to achieve corporate business objectives.
- Provide leadership and direction through developing and updating procedures, programs, determining appropriate standards and procedures, determining staffing requirements, and training opportunities.
- Provide system evaluation and implementation of systems that support Dental administration.
- Provide training for UPMC Health Plan Staff accordingly.
- Provide leadership and direction, support professional growth by providing training opportunities and appropriate resources.
- Control expenses while meeting operational, financial, and service requirements in a fast-paced managed care operations environment.
- Maintain a positive work environment for direct reports, including Business Analysts, Configuration Analysts, Leads, Product Managers, and other related positions related to the Dental products.
- Coordinate Dental Product Administration participation for all internal & external audits as necessary.
- Interact extensively with internal and external customers to build and maintain positive relationships supporting business goals and regulatory compliance.
- Identify critical business objectives; develop and implement business plans to support critical objectives
- Maintain compliance accountability specific to products in accordance with state and federal law(s).
- Analyze and trend data to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvement; Lead workgroups that encompass end users, developers, and others to identify problems and implement solutions.
- Serve as a process expert by demonstrating operations activities to prospective clients and maintaining communication with established clients.
- Participate in all phases of the recruitment and management of staff.
- Identify areas of potential compliance risk and develop solutions for risk mitigation. Oversee the development/refinement of policies and procedures, workflows, and reporting development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent business experience of four (4) years in Managed Care; Five years management experience preferred;
- Knowledge of Dental Systems Configuration, systems process thinking, and implementation and oversight of ancillary product(s) required.
- Knowledge of Dental claims administration required.
- Incumbent must have strengths in methods and techniques of business optimization.
- Strong Project Management background preferred.
- Proficient of Microsoft Office products and PC skills required;
- Proven process improvement and project management expertise required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively influence others to accomplish Health Plan business objectives.
- Ability to react to users and clients' needs in a timely and efficient manner and direct staff with minimal amount of supervision.
- Strong leadership skills and independent decision-making ability.
