Description
Join the team as a Transplant Guardian Angel and serve as a guide and support system for transplant patients and their caregivers.
Purpose:
Under the general direction of the Director of Operations, UPMC Transplant Services, and according to established standards and procedures, the Transplant Guardian Angel will assist staff with providing support to patients and family members during the pre-transplant admission process.
Responsibilities:
- Assist patients and their family members with identification and facilitation of available lodging.
- Reinforce information provided by the transplant team to the patient and their family members.
- Obtain clinical data and enter the information into a clinical database under the supervision of the Transplant Operational Staff.
- Assist with greeting patients and their families upon arrival to the hospital and with navigation to the facility.
- Serve as a communication link between the patient, family members, and transplant team regarding updates, actively listening to the family members and conveying questions/concerns to the transplant clinical team.
- Assist the transplant team in the preparation of educational packets.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent is required.
- 1-2 years of post-secondary education required.
- Computer skills to support data entry.
