Contract Specialist, MWRIF

Description

UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital is seeking a Full-time Contract Specialist, MWRIF to support the 1008 - 1008 Administration Research department!

This position will work Monday – Friday, flex or remote schedule is optional. Hours are subject to change based on business needs.


The Contract Specialist, MWRIF will be responsible for facilitating timely processing and execution of legal agreements for the organization. Agreement types will include contracts, Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), Subcontracts, Consulting Agreements, Contracted Service Agreements, non-financial agreements, and other documents as necessary. The Contract Specialist, MWRIF must possess strong communication skills and have the ability to build functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This position requires keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in research.

Responsibilities:

  • The Contract Specialist acts as a resource person for individuals at all levels of the organization to ensure timely execution of new agreements and amendments concerning sponsored programs at MWRIF.
  • The Specialist will Report to the Manager, Contracts and Grants.
  • Have primary responsibility to generate, negotiate, execute, and oversee financial and non-financial agreements to further diverse research initiatives in compliance with federal and institutional guidance.
  • Administer, track, and maintain contracts throughout project lifetime with highest regard for compliance, research excellence, and professionalism.
  • Identify and resolve potential non-compliance in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Conduct research to answer questions related to contracts and grants.
  • Coordinate and submit deliverables in accordance with contractually established requirements and deadlines.
  • Maintain familiarity with all applicable federal, institutional, and other guidance concerning contracts, grants, and research
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MWRIF, UPMC, and University of Pittsburgh sponsored program requirements.
  • Exercise tact and good judgment with sensitive and/or confidential information.
  • Provide superior service to all internal and external customers, building strong working relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Identify and lead process improvements.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of internal and external policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Collaborate closely with peers in pre-award. post-award, research, and executive teams on strategic initiatives.
  • Develop training materials and conduct training for the MWRIF community.
  • Effectively communicate and support the MWRIF mission and values to employees at all levels of the organization
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

  • The Contract Specialist, MWRIF, possesses a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years work experience in contract, program, and/or compliance management related areas such as legal, regulatory review, financial and non-financial negotiation, research, and reporting.
  • The Contract Specialist is familiar with applicable regulations surrounding federal and non-federal grants, contracts, and research.
  • The Contract Specialist has proven ability to proactively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.Experience with research in an academic medical center is preferred.
  • JD strongly preferred.
