Summer Associates Program

An 11-week, paid internship that exposes students to real-world business opportunities. Emphasis is placed on professional development, networking, and social responsibility, making for a unique internship experience. Read more from our Summer Associate alumni on our blog!

Summer Student Nurse Internship

A 10-week, paid internship that allows students to provide direct patient care with the guidance of a trained preceptor and attend educational sessions. Read about the first-hand experiences of some of our nurse interns on the blog! To apply, please click on your location of interest below. 

Summer Residency Program in the Health Services Division 

A 500-hour, paid internship that allows graduate students to gain practical health care management experience throughout the Health Services Division. Learn more and submit your application.

Student Research Training Program 

A paid program in which undergraduate and graduate Health Science students learn the rationale, design strategies, methods, and other aspects of biomedical research.

Clinical Neurophysiology Program 

A paid program that provides clinical experience and educational seminars concurrent with CNIM certification principals. Learn more and submit your application.

Full-Time Leadership Development Rotation Programs

Are you looking to utilize your leadership skills, learn about different areas within a health care corporation, and make a difference in our community? Consider one of our programs below; each program is considered to be a full-time job and offers an accompanying salary and benefits. They are a great way to begin a long, successful career with UPMC!

  • Finance Management Rotation (FMR) Program

  • Information Services Division Rotation (ISDR) Program

A two-year rotational program for graduate-level students interested in healthcare operations and management. Tracks currently exist within our Insurance Services, Health Services, and International Services divisions as well as with UPMC Enterprises. Learn more and submit your application.

Externships

Are you looking for work experience in exchange for academic credit? UPMC partners with many educational institutions to offer externships. Educational institutions are encouraged to work directly with Volunteer Services, education offices, and their professional connections for placements; note that Student Experience Agreements are required.
