UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital, Greater Pittsburgh Obstetrics and Gynecology Associates (GPOB) is looking to add a faculty, certified nurse midwife to work as a Laborist in the Birth Center Magee Women’s Hospital of UPMC in Pittsburgh PA.  The ideal candidate will be a team member providing high quality evidence based care in the peripartum  and Emergency room settings. Excellent communication skills are a must, as well as the ability to participate in our cohesive, team-based approach. Independent patient evaluation and care is anticipated but collaboration and support is given by highly trained and qualified physicians.  Competitive salary and benefits, including CME budget. Primary Responsibilities:  Provides birth and postpartum care in a daylight Monday-Friday schedule as well as some weekends  Provide phone triage and ER coverage for patients seeking care for first trimester complaints  and postpartum complications and medical issues during pregnancy

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday 7a-3p, monthly weekend shift
  • Mix of 8, 10, 14 or 24 hour shift
  • Average 48 hours a week
  • Rotating Holidays

Basic Qualifications:

•       Graduate of education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME);  AMCB Certification; •       Current Pennsylvania RN and CNM licensure

Faculty, Certified Nurse Midwife (Full-Scope) 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Midwife shall be available to perform clinical and administrative services, on average, forty-eight (48) hours per week, including performance of clinical services during a full day office schedule, day call, night and weekend call.
  • Midwife will be available for participation in clinical meetings, patient orientation sessions and administrative needs of the midwifery service.
  • Full compliance with timely and accurate completion of charts and associated clinical documentation.
  • Midwife shall participate in community education, outreach activities, and activities to promote midwifery as mutually agreed upon by UPP and Midwife.

·         Participate in all Annual Training Requirements for Midwives/Faculty as may be established, for both UPP and SOM.

·         Full compliance with the UPP Compliance Plan annual training requirements and all internal and compliance audits (i.e., Departmental and Corporate).

·         Provision of all information, as requested, necessary for divisional and departmental budgeting in a timely manner.

·         OSHA, Patient Safety, Bio-Terrorism Training (and any others as mandated by Corporate during the course of the fiscal year).

·         Maintain current Pennsylvania midwifery license, prescriptive authority certificate and nursing license, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) certificate, Medicare & other third party payer provider number(s) as deemed necessary by UPP. Maintain an active ACNM certificate.

·         Completion of the SOM/UPP Annual Faculty Performance Evaluation within established time frame and maintaining a minimum overall rating of Satisfactory.

·         Meet State Boards of Medicine and Nursing CME requirements as well as American Midwifery Certification Board requirements
