COVID-19 Vaccination Information

Across UPMC, our guiding principle is to always prioritize the safety of our employees, patients, and members. UPMC believes that vaccination is important, helps protect all, and advocates that everyone who can be vaccinated should be vaccinated.

UPMC complies with all governmental requirements related to local, state, and federal COVID-19 vaccination for employment. The Jan. 13 Supreme Court of the United States decision that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services federal COVID-19 vaccine mandate will move forward requires UPMC to ensure employees either get vaccinated or receive a requested medical or religious exemption.

If you are not yet vaccinated, we urge you to get a vaccine now. You can schedule your COVID-19 vaccination through UPMC or visit a non-UPMC provider or UPMC Urgent Care location.

Proof of vaccination is not required upon hire; however, employees will be responsible for ensuring post-hire compliance by getting vaccinated or requesting a medical or religious exemption.

Student & GN Nursing Opportunities

Did you know we have a team dedicated to helping nursing students find roles at UPMC? Our team is here to help you explore opportunities and guide you through every step of the recruitment process.

Junior-level or equivalent nursing students are invited to apply to UPMC’s 10-week, paid Student Nurse Internship (SNI) program. You’ll work up to 40 hours a week on a unit in one of a variety of clinical settings, receive 1-on-1 guidance from a trained preceptor, have built-in shadow opportunities to explore your areas of interest, and will build your confidence as a future nurse.

UPMC's full-time Graduate Nurse offerings allow you to find the right home for you within our nursing family when you’re ready, including applying for and securing a position up to a year before your graduation date! Choose between three different routes, including the GN Rotational Program (if you want to explore your options and gain experience), the GN Unit Bundle (if you know where you’d like to work, but are flexible about the unit), or GN Direct Unit Placement (if you know the hospital, specialty, and unit you are interested in).

The Summer Associates Program is an 11-week paid internship program open to Juniors and Seniors. The Summer Associates Program is a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in your field and exposure to real-world business opportunities. Hear from past SAs.

The Finance Management Rotation (FMR) Program is a 3-year full-time paid program open to seniors and recent graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or greater. Explore your finance and accounting interests during three one-year rotations as you gain broad exposure to UPMC’s operations and prepare for a leadership role at UPMC. Hear from past FMRs.

The Information Technology Rotation (ITR) Program is a 2-year full-time paid program open to seniors and recent graduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater. Administrative Residency & Fellowship Programs

The UPMC Administrative Residency and Fellowship Programs are open to graduate-level students with a passion for health care management.

The Administrative Summer Residency Program exposes you to high-level executives within our Insurance Services Division or Health Services Division. You will have the chance to apply to the post-graduate Administrative Fellowship Program upon completion of the program.

The Administrative Fellowship Program is a program that allows you to spend the first year experiencing a variety of core functional rotations and the second year in an area of interest or based on organizational needs. Learn more.

Medical Student Residencies and Fellowships are offered in a variety of locations, departments, and specialties across UPMC. If you are a medical student who would like to do a rotation at UPMC, work with your academic institution to ensure an agreement is in place. Learn more.

The Student Research Training Program is an 8-week paid internship open to Undergraduate and Graduate students. Learn the rationale, design strategies, and methods of biomedical research as a research assistant under the direct supervision of experienced researchers. Learn more.

UPMC partners with many educational institutions to offer externships. We are aware of scams targeting UPMC and other large companies that involve individuals posing as employees to illegitimately conduct interviews and extend false employment offers and payments to gain access to candidates' personal information. Please note that UPMC will not communicate with candidates through third-party email services like Gmail or Yahoo. While some interviews may take place via a video conferencing service, UPMC Talent Acquisition will not conduct interviews via Skype or Google Hangouts. UPMC will never ask for or disburse funds during the recruitment process. If you are hired into a role with a sign-on bonus or similar incentive, funds will be paid to you by UPMC after your start date.
