Professional Staff Nurse – 2 Main Acute Care- UPMC Muncy – Night Shift
UPMC Muncy has an opening for a full-time Professional Staff Nurse on 2 Main Acute Care which is an Adult Medical/Surgical Unit. The position is for 12 hour Night Shifts from 7p-7a. The position will require a weekend & holiday rotation.
Purpose:
The Professional Staff Nurse is a Registered Nurse and a key member of the care delivery team. This role is responsible for establishing and maintaining standards for the level and quality of patient care. The Professional Staff Nurse has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of nursing care and manages patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, effective communication, and collaboration with all members of the healthcare team.
The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The Professional Staff Nurse establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other healthcare providers, patients, and their families to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The Professional Staff Nurse also demonstrates a commitment to the community and to the nursing profession.

Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately with patients of all ages served by the assigned unit.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan.
- Must possess the ability to:
- Assess data reflective of a patient’s status.
- Interpret information necessary to identify each patient’s age-specific needs.
- Provide care in accordance with department policies and procedures.
- Zero to two years of experience required.
- BSN preferred.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with:
- Executives

- Ancillary and support staff
- Other departments
- Patients and families
- Ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment.
- Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities while utilizing specialized equipment.

- Critical thinking skills necessary to independently apply and lead others in the application of the nursing process.
- Mobility and visual manual dexterity required.

Flexible Scheduling Opportunities
UPMC offers a variety of flexible scheduling options, in addition to traditional rotating and flexible shifts. Special programs are available for employees who wish to work primarily:
- Night shifts
- Weekend shifts
These programs include a premium pay differential.
- Employees hired into, or transitioning into, one of these programs must have at least six (6) months of nursing experience to qualify.
- Employees may be required to complete necessary orientation during regular business hours.
- If interested in these programs, please notify your recruiter when contacted for an interview.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances
- UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
- Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in:
- The state where the facility is located, or
- A state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
- CPR certification required within 30 days of hire and must be based on American Heart Association (AHA) standards, including both didactic and skills demonstration components.
- Graduate Nurses (GNs) must complete the licensure examination:
- Within six (6) months of hire, or
- Within one (1) year of graduation, whichever occurs first.
- Although temporary permits remain valid for one year from the date of graduation (or until examination results are known), UPMC requires Graduate Nurses to take the licensure examination within six (6) months of their start date.
- Failure to take the licensure examination within six (6) months may result in termination or demotion from the GN position at the discretion of the business unit.

- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)
- Act 34
Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) Information
- Current licensure is required either in the state where the facility is located or, if applicable, through a multistate license issued by a participating Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) state.
- Hires and current employees working under an out-of-state NLC license who later establish residency in the state where the facility is located will have 60 days from the date of residency change to apply for licensure in that state.
