Psychologist III (Casual) – Alzheimer’s Biomarker Consortium – Down Syndrome (ABC-DS) Study

This position will be affiliated with a longitudinal study of adults with Down syndrome entitled, “Alzheimer’s Biomarker Consortium – Down Syndrome (ABC-DS).” Study participants are seen every 16 months for visits that include a large cognitive assessment battery and caregiver interview. The primary role of this position is to view video tapes of cognitive assessment administrations from 15-20 other study sites in the United States and Europe. The Psychologist will need to ensure that the administration and scoring of each of the assessment tools is performed correctly and will also need to provide any corrective feedback in writing. 

This position is grant funded.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates highly developed knowledge and skill in the area of differential diagnosis of psychiatric disorders.
• Provides formal teaching and supervision for staff and trainees.
• Performs psychological assessment with accurate diagnostic impressions.
• Works collaboratively with other service lines at UPMC and outside agencies assuring continuity of care with referral sources and other providers. May participate in research efforts by assisting in subject recruitment, conducting research assessments or treatment, as directed by supervisor.
• Maintains current knowledge of relevant literature and empirically validated treatments.
• Provides mentorship to new hires and staff.
• Participates in and supports program development.
• Provides behavioral health services in using an acute and maintenance model. Schedules sufficient volume of patients so that direct service productivity standards are maintained within the department.
• Maintains knowledge of the literature relevant to the relevant patient population.
• Demonstrates ability to maintain accurate and complete records and data collection, performed in a timely fashion.
• Consults and collaborates with multidisciplinary teams regarding patient care and treatment planning.
• Provides support across service lines.
• Provides crisis sessions to support and assist patients experiencing acute distress and/or symptoms, as needed.
• Provides behavioral health services, using empirically validated treatments and interventions.
