The Family Based Mental Health Services Program is considered the most intense outpatient service a client/family can receive. The Family Based Clinician I works on a team with a master level clinician, providing individual and family therapy, case management, crisis management and advocacy for families. It is truly the Swiss Army knife of mental health. Our office is located in the Franklin Building on the vibrant, Southside of Pittsburgh. Family Based clinicians provide services in the family’s homes. The work schedule for this position is flexible/non-traditional hours, Monday through Friday, with weekend sessions held occasionally.

Sign-On Bonus Details:

$6,000 for a 2-year work agreement

Family Based Clinician II level candidates will be considered for this role.  The title and pay rate (minimum rate for Clinician II is $23.56) for these positions may vary depending on education level and years of experience.

The Family Based Clinician II works on a team with a bachelor level clinician, providing individual and family therapy, case management, crisis management and advocacy for families.

Responsibilities:

·       Provide comprehensive family services primarily within the home and community which includes family therapy, individual therapy, crisis prevention / intervention, case management and advocacy.

·       Provide support and intervention to a child or adolescent (1-21 years of age) in their home, school or community setting who are on the verge of an acute crisis or amid a chronic cycle of major crises behavior, and without this intervention would require a more restrictive setting such as a psychiatric hospitalization, out-of-home placement, and/or a more restrictive educational setting. Our mission is to keep children with their families.      

·       Support family’s efforts to stabilize the child or adolescent and promote age-appropriate behavior by working with the family utilizing Eco-systemic Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Parent Management Training, etc.

·       Assist parents in the implementation of behavioral programs.

·       Maintain productivity standards between team and individual delivered treatment constituting 28 hours of billable services per week. Deliver a minimum of 60% team delivered services along with master level clinician.

·       Maintain precise documentation of all client/family contacts and meetings and report this information accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record including Clinical notes, Social History, Interagency Meeting Reports, Treatment Plans and Discharge Summaries.

·       Develop with the child and family the individualized treatment plan within 5 days of opening and every 30 days thereafter, including individual, family, community, and safety goals.

·       Collaborate with other members of the multidisciplinary treatment team and other professionals working with the client/family, participate in interagency planning meetings, and coordinate case management needs in collaboration with master level partner.

·       Provide for confidentiality and demonstrate courteous, cooperative, respectful behavior towards children, adolescents and their families, professionals and member of larger systems involved in treatment process.

·       Attend and participate in weekly supervision meetings for a minimum of two hours per week.

·       Attend all mandatory monthly treatment team meetings with the program psychiatrist and the month staff meetings.

·       Attend and successfully complete the 3-year Family-Based Training Curriculum by actively participating in monthly lectures and clinical presentations including videotaping.

·       Attend periodic staff development training via WPH as needed.

·       Inform supervisor and treatment team promptly of any unexpected or unusual change in client functioning.

Qualifications:

Family Based Clinician I:

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling required. 

·       Bachelors in other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience.

·       1-year post-graduate experience working with children and families, crisis intervention, parent management and behavioral intervention models required.

·       Experience working with children / adolescents with severe psychiatric illness including Autism Spectrum Disorder is preferred.

·       Knowledge of CASSP principles.

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

·       Ability to function effectively as part of a treatment team, work independently and demonstrate sound clinical judgment and ability to utilize and seek supervision.

·       Ability to develop effective working relationship with professional team, parents, schools, CYS and JPO systems.

Family Based Clinician II:

·       Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling and 2 years’ post-graduation experience working with children and families, crisis intervention, parent management and behavioral intervention models required.

OR

·       Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling AND completion of the 3 year Family Based training curriculum with state certification required.

·       Other fields of study may be considered with coursework of at least 12 credits in human services and/or relevant mental health experience. 

·       Experience working with children / adolescents with severe psychiatric illness is preferred.

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

·       Ability to function effectively as part of a treatment team, work independently and demonstrate sound clinical judgment and ability to utilize and seek supervision.

·       Ability to develop effective working relationship with professional team, parents, schools, CYS and JPO systems. Act 33/34/73 required.

·       Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

·       Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)

·       Driver’s License

·       Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

·       Act 33 with renewal
