Nurse Educator – Emergency Department

Are you a passionate nurse educator looking to make a significant impact? UPMC Horizon is seeking a dedicated Nurse Educator to join our team and oversee our Emergency Departments. In this role, you’ll primarily work 5 days a week with 8-hour daylight shifts with occasional off-shift or weekend training sessions. Plus, no holiday shifts! This position will travel between our UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley and UPMC Horizon Greenville campuses.

As a Nurse Educator at UPMC Horizon, you will develop and maintain productive relationships by mentoring and modeling positive communication. You’ll lead and oversee our Emergency Departments, ensuring top-notch education and support, and assist with classroom trainings to enhance the professional development of our care team members. Collaboration with unit leadership and the education team will be key to delivering impactful learning experiences.

You’ll actively participate in quality improvement efforts and utilize evidence-based practices to enhance clinical care. Mentoring new staff members and serving as a resource for patients, nursing staff, and other disciplines will be part of your role. Additionally, you’ll facilitate orientation and continuing education programs to improve patient care and promote clinical excellence. Taking a leading role in major hospital-wide projects and applying innovative strategies to problem-solving will also be essential.

We prefer candidates with at least 3 years of emergency medicine nursing experience and previous teaching or precepting experience. A BSN is required, and an MSN is preferred.

• Take a leading role in hospital-wide projects, applying innovative problem-solving strategies.
• Facilitate student experiences and verify competencies of direct care staff, ensuring training addresses gaps in knowledge and skills.
